Project Overview

The Chinese University of Hong Kong team, in collaboration with the Lantau Mountain Camp Residents Association, embarks on the “Regenerating Lantau Mountain Camp: Co-creative architectural restoration and nature conservation through participatory initiatives” project to pioneer a sustainable conservation model for the Lantau Mountain Camp (LMC). Funded by the Lantau Conservation Fund, this project studies architecture and cultural heritage of LMC, and surveys the biodiversity and visitor activities of the Sunset Peak area, the strategically located Caretaker's Hut is restored to support conservation operations. The project aims to enhance public awareness in conservation and respect for resident privacy, establish a sustainable approach for conserving the LMC and surrounding area, balancing cultural heritage conservation with environmental stewardship so as to promote long-term conservation of this special place.
